Full Itinerary
Morning | Hotel Pickup & Dujiangyan Irrigation System
Your private driver and English-speaking guide will meet you in your Chengdu hotel lobby (within the 3rd Ring Road) at the confirmed time. After a scenic 1.5-hour drive, you will arrive at the Dujiangyan Irrigation System, a UNESCO World Heritage Site built in 256 BC.
Your guide will walk you along the riverbank and explain how Li Bing and his son designed this system without a single dam. See the key components:
-
Fish Mouth Levee (Yuzui): The water-dividing levee that splits the Min River into two channels.
-
Flying Sand Weir (Feishayan): The spillway that automatically discharges sediment and excess water.
-
Bottle-Neck Channel (Baopingkou): The narrow intake that regulates the flow into the irrigation network.
-
Anlan Suspension Bridge: A historic cable bridge across the Min River, offering great views and a bit of adventure.
Shuttle bus within the Dujiangyan Irrigation System is included.
Midday | Lunch (at your own expense)
After the Dujiangyan visit, your guide will recommend a local restaurant nearby. Enjoy authentic Sichuan dishes at your own pace and budget. Your guide will assist with menu translation and ordering.
Afternoon | Mount Qingcheng
After lunch, continue to Mount Qingcheng, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the birthplace of Taoism. Board the shuttle bus (included) to the mountain base, then step onto the cable car (included) for a smooth ride above the dense forest.
From the cable car station, follow ancient stone paths to Shangqing Palace, the highest temple on the mountain at 1,600 meters. Your guide will share the legends of Taoist sages and explain the philosophy of harmony between humans and nature. Continue to Tianshi Cave, where Zhang Daoling is said to have founded the first Taoist community nearly 2,000 years ago.
Then, make your way to Yuecheng Lake, where emerald waters mirror the surrounding peaks. Board a scenic boat (included) for a tranquil cruise across the lake—a perfect way to rest your legs and soak in the mountain views.

Michael & Sarah –
What an amazing day! Our guide Teresa was absolutely fantastic—friendly, knowledgeable, and spoke perfect English. She picked us up at our hotel right on time and made the whole day seamless. Dujiangyan was fascinating; Teresa explained how the 2,200-year-old irrigation system still works without a dam. Then Mount Qingcheng was magical—cable car, boat ride on Yuecheng Lake, and peaceful Taoist temples in the mist. All tickets, cable car, boat, shuttle bus, and transfers were included, no hidden fees. Teresa even helped us order local food for lunch and gave great tips for the rest of our trip. Highly recommend this tour and Teresa!
