Full Itinerary
Morning | Hotel Pickup & Dujiangyan Panda Valley
Your private driver and English-speaking guide will meet you in your Chengdu hotel lobby (within the 3rd Ring Road) at the confirmed time. After a scenic 1.5-hour drive, you will arrive at Dujiangyan Panda Valley.
Also known as the Dujiangyan Wild Release and Breeding Research Center, this valley is a working rewilding facility where captive-born pandas train for eventual release into the wild. It is home to around 25 giant pandas living in spacious, semi-wild habitats.
Your guide will lead you along the trail to see the giant pandas in their forest enclosures. Because the valley is less crowded than the Chengdu city panda base, you can observe the pandas from just a few meters away—watching them eat bamboo, climb trees, and play.
The highlight for many visitors is the red panda free-roaming area. Follow the elevated forest boardwalk through the red panda habitat, where these russet-furred acrobats roam freely among the trees. They may cross the boardwalk, nap on branches above you, or curiously peek at visitors. Your guide will explain the conservation work behind this unique semi-free-range setup.
Shuttle bus inside the panda valley is included.
Midday | Lunch (at your own expense)
After the panda valley visit, your guide will recommend a local restaurant nearby or on the way to Mount Qingcheng. Enjoy authentic Sichuan dishes at your own pace and budget. Your guide will assist with menu translation and ordering.
Afternoon | Mount Qingcheng
After lunch, continue to Mount Qingcheng, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the birthplace of Taoism. Board the shuttle bus (included) to the mountain base, then step onto the cable car (included) for a smooth ride above the dense forest.
From the cable car station, follow ancient stone paths to Shangqing Palace, the highest temple on the mountain at 1,600 meters. Your guide will share the legends of Taoist sages and explain the philosophy of harmony between humans and nature. Continue to Tianshi Cave, where Zhang Daoling is said to have founded the first Taoist community nearly 2,000 years ago.
Then, make your way to Yuecheng Lake, where emerald waters mirror the surrounding peaks. Board a scenic boat (included) for a tranquil cruise across the lake—a perfect way to rest your legs and soak in the mountain views.
Late Afternoon | Return to Chengdu
After the tour, your private driver will take you back to your Chengdu hotel, arriving in the late afternoon or early evening.

Perfect day! Panda Valley was amazing—giant pandas and red pandas roaming free. Mount Qingcheng was stunning with cable car and boat ride. Our guide was excellent, everything included. 5 stars! Highly recommend!
Javier & Lucía –
We are from Spain and have done many private tours around the world, but this one truly stood out. From the moment our driver met us at our Chengdu hotel, everything was seamless. The car was spotless and comfortable, and our guide spoke excellent English. Panda Valley was a highlight—far less crowded than the city panda base. We watched giant pandas munching bamboo just meters away, and then walked the elevated boardwalk through the red panda area. One red panda even crossed the path right in front of us! Our guide explained the rewilding program in a way that made us appreciate conservation even more. After a delicious local lunch (the guide recommended a small family restaurant with the best mapo tofu we’ve ever had), we headed to Mount Qingcheng. The cable car ride was smooth, the boat on Yuecheng Lake was peaceful, and the ancient Taoist temples felt magical in the mist. Everything was included—tickets, cable car, boat, shuttle bus—no hidden costs at all. The pace was relaxed and we never felt rushed. At the end, we were dropped back at our hotel with big smiles. If you’re in Chengdu, don’t miss this tour. It’s worth every penny.
