【Itinerary】
Duration: 10~11 hrs.
–Begin your day with a pickup from your hotel in downtown Chengdu.
If you choose the Leshan Giant Buddha and Giant Buddha Temple package, head to the Giant Buddha Temple.
If you choose the Leshan Giant Buddha and Huanglongxi Ancient Town package, head to the snack street in Downtown Leshan.
–Visit the Giant Buddha Temple, located in the eastern suburbs of Emeishan City. As the first gateway to Emei Mountain, it’s a must-visit for pilgrims and tourists. With magnificent architecture and rich Buddhist culture, it’s one of the largest Buddhist temples in Asia.
–Next, head to the Leshan snack street. Leshan is famous for its Giant Buddhas and gourmet snacks, and this place is the most famous snack street in Leshan. Many Chengdu people even make a special trip here on weekends to find delicious food. Because there are so many kinds of food in Leshan, lunch is not included in the package. Try your favorite food in the food street according to your preferences.
After lunch, have a short walk at the Leshan Winter Swimming Plaza next to it, where you can overlook the Leshan Giant Buddha.
–Then, visit the Leshan Giant Buddha, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996. Standing at a towering 71 meters, it’s the world’s tallest stone Buddha. Carved from red sandstone, it sits at the confluence of the Min, Qingyi, and Dadu rivers. The project, led by Monk Haitong, took 90 years to complete. The Buddha’s features are remarkable, with 27-foot-long fingers and 23-foot-long ears. Despite facing pollution and weathering, restoration efforts keep it grand.
Choose a walking tour (about 3 hours) or a boat tour (about 1.5 hours) according to your physical strength and communicate with the guide. One of the scenic spot tickets or cruise tickets is included in the package.
It is important to note that the Leshan Government is renovating the right side of the Giant Buddha before April 30, 2025. Part of the Giant Buddha will be obscured by construction facilities. It may affect your visiting experience.
–If you choose the Leshan Giant Buddha and Huanglongxi Ancient Town package, visit Huanglongxi Ancient Town then, with a history of over 2,100 years. It features well-preserved Ming and Qing architectures, including seven ancient streets. With three temples in the central street and many cultural relics, it’s a great place to experience Chinese traditional culture. It’s also famous for its folk activities like the Fire Dragon Dance.
–Enjoy the beautiful sunset and the night view of the ancient town, and then return to Chengdu.
