Full Itinerary
Morning | Hotel Pickup & Journey to the Mountain
Your private driver and English-speaking guide will meet you in your Chengdu hotel lobby (within the 3rd Ring Road) at the confirmed time. After a scenic 1.5-hour drive through the Sichuan countryside, you will arrive at Mount Qingcheng.
Your guide will handle all entry arrangements. Board the shuttle bus (included) to the mountain base, then step onto the cable car (included) for a smooth ride above the dense forest. As you ascend, the air grows cooler and the sounds of the city fade away.
Late Morning | Temples in the Mist
From the cable car station, follow ancient stone paths through misty woods to Shangqing Palace, the highest temple on the mountain at 1,600 meters. Your guide will share the legends of Taoist sages who sought immortality here and explain the philosophy of harmony between humans and nature that was born among these peaks.
Continue to Tianshi Cave, the grotto where Zhang Daoling is said to have founded the first Taoist community nearly 2,000 years ago. Explore the temple halls and see ancient relics that have survived centuries of worship.
Midday | Lunch (at your own expense)
Your guide will recommend an authentic local restaurant near the mountain. Enjoy classic Sichuan dishes at your own pace and budget. Your guide will assist with menu translation and ordering.
Afternoon | Yuecheng Lake & Descent
After lunch, make your way to Yuecheng Lake, where emerald waters mirror the surrounding peaks. Board a scenic boat (included) for a tranquil cruise across the lake—a perfect way to rest your legs and soak in the mountain views from a different perspective.
After the boat ride, continue your descent by cable car and shuttle bus. Your guide will ensure you have time for photos and quiet moments before heading back.
Late Afternoon | Return to Chengdu
Your private driver will take you back to your Chengdu hotel, arriving in the late afternoon or early evening. You’ll return with memories of misty peaks, ancient temples, and the deep calm of China’s most sacred Taoist mountain.
